The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has become aware of an entity operating under the above-mentioned names, which is known to have an internet presence at http://www.wmbormla.eu/secure/. This entity claims to be a bank offering personal, business and international banking, and purports to have had a presence in Malta for over 130 years and that Malta is its “second global headquarters”.
The MFSA wishes to alert the public, in Malta and abroad, that the above mentioned is NOT a company registered in Malta NOR is it an entity licenced by the MFSA to provide any type of financial services including banking services. The website operated by the entity contains false and misleading information and is fraudulent. Accordingly, the MFSA warns the public against entering into any transactions or otherwise dealing with this entity.
The MFSA would like to remind consumers of financial services not to enter into any financial services transaction unless they have ascertained that the entity with whom the transaction is being made holds the appropriate licence, authorisation or registration required in terms of law to provide financial services from the MFSA or is otherwise licenced, authorised or registered with another reputable financial services regulator.
A list of entities licensed by the MFSA is available from the Malta Financial Services Authority, and can be viewed on the MFSA website at www.mfsa.mt.
