Isabel Pawney – Senior Analyst, Financial Crime Compliance, MFSA
Isabel joined the MFSA in March 2019 as an Analyst within the Financial Crime Compliance function. In March 2021 she was promoted to Senior Analyst within the same function. She takes pride and is very passionate about her work which offers her many opportunities for growth. On a daily basis she is responsible for the AML/CFT oversight, operations and planning processes involved and also works closely with other supervisory units within the MFSA to provide support and assistance. During our brief chat with her we spoke about her recent ACAMS qualification and the support she received from the MFSA to further her studies and expand her expertise.
Why did you choose the MFSA as your workplace?
The MFSA had been on my radar for years. For me working with the financial services regulator was a goal which I aspired to because of the career exposure it gives you and the opportunity to work closely with talented and passionate people.
What is the best thing about working at the MFSA?
The MFSA keeps employees at the heart of its decisions and during these difficult times living through a pandemic and the ever-evolving changes, the MFSA has proved more than ever that it fully supports its employees and keeps our best interest and wellbeing at heart.
How did the MFSA support your career development?
The MFSA has supported me from day one. As an MFSA employee I am provided with ample opportunities to expand my knowledge and expertise in all areas within the financial sector. In January of this year, I obtained the Certificate of Anti Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) through the support of the MFSA Self-Development scheme. I am also interested in embarking on other opportunities which are constantly being offered to us by the MFSA.
