Margherita Privitera – Head, Risk Management

Margherita Privitera joined the MFSA in May 2022 as Head of Risk Management and is responsible for keeping the risk control framework under review and providing the strategic input and direction for the Authority’s risk appetite.

Before starting her role at the MFSA, Margherita worked at HSBC Bank Malta plc for over 26 years, holding numerous senior roles, including Head of Insurance Operations and Business Standards and Head of FCR & KYC and Fraud. She also held the position of Head of Retail Distribution Risk where she was responsible for financial crime risk management, assisting in driving the operational risk agendas, streamlining the risk control environment, and leading the implementation of risk policies and frameworks for risk management. This included the embedding of operational risk transformation actions. In her various roles Margherita was responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing large teams and was also selected for the Future Leaders Programme.

Margherita has a Master of Business Administration (Global) from the University of Derby. She also holds a PGDip in Strategic Management and Leadership from Pearson College London.
